About Us
Founded in 1937, Shaffer Trucking has a long history of excellence. Joining the Crete Carrier family in 1974, the two companies along with Hunt Transportation have become one of the nation’s largest privately held transportation companies. Shaffer specializes in temperature-sensitive freight and is a premiere carrier for the candy and confectionery industry. We have more than 1,100 tractors and more than 2,800 refrigerated trailers covering national, regional, and dedicated routes. Our drivers are our most valuable asset. As a result, we have one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry with drivers staying with us three times longer than our competition. Our professional drivers are among the best on the highways, meeting standards far exceeding those required by the U.S. Department of Transportation. We offer comprehensive and affordable health insurance, matching 401k, and a profit-sharing plan that contributed $11.5 million in profit sharing in 2025 and $103 million to employee retirement accounts since 2018
